About

100% direct, person to person · 0% platform cut

Covered is a direct, person-to-person way to take a real bill off someone's plate.

Givers meet real people carrying something urgent — an electric bill, a phone, a prescription. You read a short story, pick a bill, choose an amount, and send it straight to their Venmo or Cash App. 100% goes to them; Covered never touches the money.

Everyone asking for help passes a government ID and selfie check, and every bill is looked at by a real human before it goes live. No pooled fund, no middleman, no platform cut.

The elevator pitch

Most people who fall behind on a bill aren't short for a month — they're short for one week. Covered sits in that gap: a fast, direct way for someone with a little slack to wipe out a stranger's overdue bill in about a minute.

The giving side is meant to feel light — flip through bills, cover the one that gets you, done. The asking side is meant to feel safe — verified identity, reviewed documents, and a balance that only drops once the person confirms the money actually landed. Covered earns nothing on the gift and never asks to hold funds.

The formal version

The precise description we give payment processors, partners and investors.

Covered is a direct peer-to-peer bill-assistance directory. Verified individuals upload documentation of an essential personal expense — utilities, rent, medical, phone or other. Each submission is checked manually for authenticity before it is published, with automated document checks supplementing the human review.

Supporters send voluntary gifts directly to the person asking for help, through Venmo or Cash App. Covered does not receive, hold, transfer or refund funds, and is not a payment institution, lender, insurer, escrow service or pooled-fund crowdfunding platform. It takes no percentage of any gift and charges no platform fee; any fees on a payment are set by the payment provider. Gifts to individuals are not tax-deductible contributions.

Access is gated: a person must complete identity verification and provide a valid payment handle before posting, may hold one active bill at a time, and may not ask for more than $500. A posted gift lowers the displayed balance only after the recipient confirms receipt with a screenshot, and the recipient is asked to show proof of payment to the biller within seven days of the bill being covered. Accounts that fail these checks are flagged and can no longer post.

Covered is operated by Abraham Post-Hyatt in New York, USA. Questions about the service, reviews or data handling go to hello@urcovered.org. See our Terms and Privacy Policy.

For givers

  1. 1

    Flip through bills

Each card shows a real bill: what it's for, how much is still needed, the due date and a short story. Pass on a bill or tap Cover.

  2. 2

    Pick your boost

Cover the whole thing or chip in what feels right. We hold your amount for 30 minutes while you send it, so nobody else gives that same share.

  3. 3

    Send it direct

Pay their Venmo or Cash App in one tap, then tap "I sent it." Your gift shows as "on the way" until they confirm it arrived.

For people who need a hand

  1. 1

    Verify your ID

A one-time photo ID and selfie check through Stripe, the same company that handles payments for millions of businesses.

  2. 2

    Post your bill

Upload the bill and tell your story in a few sentences. You can have one active bill at a time, up to $500.

  3. 3

    Confirm every gift

When a gift arrives, upload a screenshot showing it landed. Only confirmed gifts lower your balance.

  4. 4

    Show it's paid

Once your bill is covered, upload proof you paid the biller within 7 days.

How we keep it safe

Several checks have to pass before a bill reaches you, and more checks run after money moves.

Verified identity

Everyone asking for help passes a government ID and selfie check with Stripe Identity. Covered never stores ID photos.

AI fraud checks

AI reads every bill to spot mismatched names, edited amounts, odd details and possible duplicates, then flags anything unusual for our team. It never approves anyone on its own.

Real human review

A person on our team looks at every bill and its AI findings before it goes live, and writes the short summary you see.

Screenshot-confirmed gifts

A gift only counts once the person shows it arrived. If no screenshot comes within 3 days, our team checks the account.

Proof the bill got paid

After a bill is covered, the person has 7 days to show they paid the biller. Accounts that don't are flagged and can't post again.

Private by design

Bill documents stay private and are only seen by our review team. You see a summary, never their account numbers or address.

Built-in limits

One active bill per person, up to $500, so no one can take advantage of givers.

Report anything

See something off? Every card has a "Report this bill" link that goes straight to our team.

Tax note

Gifts to individuals aren't tax-deductible today. Tax-deductible gifting is coming soon.
